A fresh start: school renewal programme under way

Fresh paint, better toilets and showers, and restored gardens: the School Development Committee’s programme is changing the face of Nyanhewe.

Nyanhewe Primary School is in the middle of a renewal programme led by the School Development Committee under Admore Mbonda, with the support of parents, guardians and the wider Kariba community.

A fresh coat of paint

The administration block, home to the computer laboratory, reception and the offices of the Head and Deputy Head, has been repainted in partnership with a local church. Bright, clean rooms and corridors now greet learners, parents and visitors.

Better toilets and showers

Work is under way on the toilet blocks. Showers, new urinals and additional toilets are being added, so that every learner has clean, safe and dignified facilities.

Gardens and grounds

The school's hedges, lawns and gardens are being cared for again, giving the grounds between the classroom blocks a welcoming, green face.

More than a new look

The committee's aim goes beyond buildings: a school where cleanliness, discipline, care for our facilities and strong results go hand in hand. A school that looks its best is a place where children can do their best.

Parents and guardians who would like to support the programme are welcome to contact the school office.
