Nyanhewe Primary School is a Kariba Municipality school for children from ECD A to Grade 7.
Our school
Nyanhewe Primary School is a Kariba Municipality primary school on Gawa Road, Kariba. We teach learners from ECD A to Grade 7, following the Zimbabwe national curriculum, and prepare our Grade 7s for their ZIMSEC examinations.
Alongside the classroom, our learners take part in sport, singing, drama and traditional dance, and learn about the digital world in our computer lab — all with the support of an experienced and dedicated staff.

History
1991
Nyanhewe Primary School was officially opened on 6 April 1991 by the Minister of State for Local Government, Rural and Urban Development, Dr Swithen Mombeshora, to serve the families of Kariba. From those beginnings it has grown into one of the largest primary schools in the town.

Over more than three decades, thousands of Kariba children have started their schooling in our classrooms and gone on to secondary school and beyond. Through every change in the curriculum, the school has held on to its motto: education is the light and pillar of our heritage.
2026
The School Development Committee, led by Admore Mbonda, began a programme to renew the school: the administration block was repainted in partnership with a local church, the toilet blocks are being upgraded with showers, new urinals and more toilets, and the gardens are being restored.
